The County’s Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB) in 2013 was primarily citizens from the mainland. They were incensed with the 50% property tax rate hike that meant their tax bills went up by 40%. The understood that the shift occurred because of the large drop in Beach area property values. In 2011 they had met with citizens of all areas of the County to understand their economic concerns and developed area plans to address the issues.
The briefing below was used to communicate their concerns to County management. When the criticism grew too loud the County disbanded the EDAB as a “cost cutting” measure.
